Tomica Initial D Vol.4 is one the best Tomica set I've ever owned. Let me show you more on this awesome collection.
I managed to get this set with the help of my friend to bid it from Yahoo Auction. Since, it is not selling in the market anymore and rare Initial D diecast, this set did cost quite a bomb.
Turn over the front cover, you'll find 6 main cars from the Initial D First Stage.
Let's start with the first car, the Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex (AE86). Takumi Fujiwara, main character in Initial D drives this car daily at Mount Akina to deliver tofus from his father's 'Fujiwara Tofu Shop' (藤原とうふ店) shown on the side door of the AE86.
Next, is the cars driven by Takahashi brothers. The yellow one is Mazda Ẽfini RX-7 Type R (FD3S) driven by Keisuke Takahashi...
... and the white one is Mazda Savanna RX-7 Infini III (FC3S) driven by Ryousuke Takahashi. Both FC and FD form the team Akagi RedSuns.
Team Myogi NightKids leader, Takeshi Nakazato drives this Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II (BNR32). In the anime, this car was very powerful, fast acceleration but still lost to Takumi's AE86 due to heavy car and his poor throttle control.
Mako & Sayuki duo is the fastest at Usui Mountain Pass, and battle against Takumi's AE86 with Nissan Sileighty (RPS13). The battle scene at narrow roads of Usui was probably the most intense one.
This is the second AE86 in Initial D and appeared in the last episode of Initial D Second Stage. It is similar with Takumi's car but it is a Corolla Levin model with Turbo-charged engine. The driver is Wataru Akiyama from Saitama Prefecture.
Project D Downhill & Uphill Aces. Side door opening is what makes Tomica diecast different from other 1/64 diecast brands.
A set of 6 Tomicas with distinct Initial D logos and stickers definitely make your Initial D collection more worth it. I guess I'll never find another set of the same one. If you guys do come across this set either on the shelves or Internet, you've got to own one!
Regardless what opponent Takumi faces, he'll never give up and wins the battle at the end. However, most of you might already knew, Initial D story has concluded, the legend of Takumi's AE86 has ended and this collection set I have will remind me the memory of exciting and entertaining story of Initial D.
